Step 1 of 6

About you

So we can check you’re in our Facebook group.

You’ll use this to log in. Your card list and reminders come here.

Pick 4 to 6 numbers you’ll remember. Please don’t use your bank PIN. We’ll never ask for your PIN by text or email.

Step 2 of 6

Where should cards go?

Only the members writing to you, an Elf if one steps in, and the group admin will see this. It’s stored securely and deleted at the end of January.

House number and street, or house name.

Apartment, townland or area.

If your country doesn’t use one, you can leave this blank.

Leave blank to use your first and last name.

Step 3 of 6

The ones you love and miss

If you’d like, share their names so your card writers can say them. Every loss belongs here, however they died and however long ago, including a baby who died before or after birth.

Loved one 1

For example: my wife, my husband, my son, my mom, my sister, my baby daughter, my stillborn son. If your baby wasn’t named, you can write “Baby” and your last name.

Add another name
Loved one 2
Loved one 3
If this isn’t ticked, your card writers won’t see these names.
A page of names, remembered together. Only this year’s members can see it, once we’ve checked they’re in our Facebook group.

Step 4 of 6

This year’s exchange

How many cards would you like to send?

Choose what feels manageable. One card is plenty. Other members will be writing to you either way. You can change this until card lists go out.

Can you mail cards to other countries?

Cards to other countries cost more to mail and can take 2 to 3 weeks to arrive. Live outside the US? Many of our members are in the US, so “anywhere” makes it easier to match you.

This includes a baby who died this year, before or after birth. Our Elves (members who offer to send a few extra cards) will try to send you some. Your card writers will see a short note saying it’s your first Christmas without them. If Christmas is hard this year for another reason, you can say so in your note for card writers.
Could you send a few extra cards if they’re needed? (optional)
Could you send a few extra cards if they’re needed? (optional)

Members who say yes are our Elves. Elves send a few extra cards to members facing a first Christmas without someone they love, and when someone’s card can’t be sent. Most requests come in mid-December, and we’ll ask you to mail them within a few days, if you can.

Step 5 of 6

Add a note for your card writers (optional)

You can add or change this any time before card lists go out.

For the people writing to you

A birthday, a due date, a wedding anniversary, the day you lost them, or any day that’s tender this time of year. Your card writers will see exactly what you write. For example: “December 9 is Rose’s due date” or “December 20 is our wedding anniversary.”

A favorite memory, something they loved, or what helps (and what doesn’t) this time of year. If you welcome prayer and your faith isn’t Christian, you can say so here. You never have to say how they died.

Cards and faith

Choose what will comfort you this year. You can change it until card lists go out.

Family photo cards and newsletters can be hard to receive. Your card writers will see this.

Step 6 of 6

Almost done

Your address goes only to the members writing to you, an Elf if one steps in, and the group admin. They also see your note, your special or hard days, and your loved ones’ names if you choose to share them. Members you write to see your first name and your state or country. Addresses and phone numbers are deleted at the end of January.
